Lame Posting...But POSTING, Nonetheless!

I'm finally posting, and posting something I stole from Matt's Animal Mind.

I am waiting for an ice storm to hit our area today, and so far, I've been disappointed. I had planned a day of relaxation and goofing off, but I'm at work and the kiddo is at school. Is it wrong to wish for the power to stay on, yet want them to cancel school so I can shut down my office? I'm a kid in an adult body.

However, I found this gem, which brightened my spirits. Name all the cameos - I dare ya!

Here's hoping you are staying warm!

A New Day

When I woke up this morning, I realized that it was THIS DAY. Bush's last day. I bought this mug for Roger when I visited D.C. in 2007...and it seemed so far away then.

No matter your politics, you have to admit that today was historic.

At the time I bought this, I had no idea who our next president would be. I just knew that I wasn't a big fan of the one we had at the time. And I can say HAD ... now that he has lifted off in his helicopter and left the White House behind.

Watching today's inauguration, I was pleased to hear the crowds chanting, "USA! USA! USA!" I'm not sure I've ever heard that chanted outside the Olympics. Congratulations, Mr. President. I hope that the entire country can pull together now and work toward rebuilding all that has fallen apart in the last eight years.

I want to know from you...did you watch the Inauguration? And what is your hope for our nation's future?

First Post of the New Year

Oh my, where has the time gone? SO much has been happening...and my blogging time has suffered. First, New Year's was fun. No one got hurt, and we only had 13 overnight guests, mostly teenagers. We survived! Here is a quick peek of attendees - though not all are pictured. First the "adults:" Then, the teenagers: OH...AND...big news... we have chosen a name for the BAND! Okay, you guys had great suggestions. Really great ones. In fact, I honestly liked many of your suggestions better than the actual band name. BUT...there was a breakdown, and it's all my fault. About a week into the "Band Name Discussion" (let's refer to it as BND for short), I was getting excited. Lots of good names were floating around. We even had a written list, and I had reduced the BND to a few pieces of paper, including the printed list of blog comments. Many of your suggestions were applauded during the BND.

Another week later, Roger discovers a book of mine - 1,000 Meditations or something similar, and it is chock full of ideas. The book becomes a focal point of the BND. Names are thrown out...here and there...it becomes fuzzy and impossible to focus on what we should be. BND had evolved into a laborious exercise. What did your Tiggerlane do? Decided to shut down her brain and no longer particpate in BND. Not really, anyway.

It had become exhausting. And the PRESSURE. BND was no longer fun. BND moved into the realm of text messaging. BND was raunchy at times. (Well, THAT part was fun.)
One night, we faced a deadline. We are actually going to perform on stage February 14th (of this year). BND carried on for so long that my only response became, "Just pick a name." We did. BND produced "Carousel of Time." Keep in mind, BND ended at 3AM.
By morning, the name was no longer favored. BND resumed. I refused to participate. I was exhausted.
Finally, BND was over. Again. We have a name.
7th Wave.
Sting sang about it. Do you know about it?
I'm just glad it's over. Oh, and the pictures above? Those are from our first "outside the studio" rehearsal at the auditorium where we will play our gig. Wish us luck.
